The Zanzibar Gem also known by its scientific name Zamioculcas or the ZZ plant is an indoor plant that doesn’t need much looking after and has therefore been included in our easy care and office plant range. The plant is able to store water really well so doesn’t need watering often, and because it doesn’t mind low light it’s perfect for offices and shady spots.
The plants strikingly shiny green leaves and strong thick stems can create an everlasting impression, turning dull spaces into happy green, urban jungles.
Studies show that the plant has air purifying qualities, and is able to remove volatile organic compounds like benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene.

A 2014 study from the Department of Plant and Environmental Science at the University of Copenhagen shows that, in a laboratory setting, the plant is able to remove volatile organic compounds in this order of effectiveness: benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene.
